Case Study: Honeybaked Ham Since 2019
- Found walk in freezer with failed compressor during an emergency service call (after hours) and replaced compressor.
- Responded to a service call that the sandwich cooler wasn’t cooling well and found a clogged filter dryer. We replaced filter dryer and recharged the system.
- Found the walk in cooler not working at all. Found a leak in the evaporator. Repaired leak with braze and pressure tested the unit to get it back up.
- Found walk in freezer not holding temp due to low refrigerant charge and leak. Replaced the flare nut causing the leak and the system was back up and running.
- Responded to a call that freezer wasn’t holding the proper temp, and found the capacitor was weak due to condenser fan motor. Replaced capacitor and restored the unit’s function.
The majority of these fixes were very cheap and easy fixes compared to the cost of what the client would have lost in product value had we not been able to come out each time.

What Could it Cost You if You Don't Have a Maintenance Plan?
The mindset of many business owners is "run it into the ground till we need something new." However, that is not sustainable long term and is costly.
2x Per Year Maintenance Not Only Extends the Life Cycle of Equipment, but Also Minimizes Repairs On the Equipment.
The overall cost savings is much more than life cycle savings or what it costs to replace the equipment prematurely. It also helps prevent unexpected failures, which can impact business and ultimately bottom-line profit.
Just in layman’s terms, it can allow you to replace a system every 20 years instead of every 12-15 years, and the cost of repairs over that period of time is cut in half.

- Responded to a call that the cake freezer wasn’t maintaining temp. Found the freezer with a failed compressor and we replaced it. During replacement of the compressor, we found a secondary part that was affecting the freezer’s ability to hold temp and we replaced it. We recharged the system afterward and returned the freezer to full function.
- Responded to a call that one of the freezers and a dipping freezer wasn’t cooling at all. The customer said the freezers would also trip the breaker and turn off the entire power source to the freezers every night. Our technician went through a couple of cycles with the dipping freezer and found that the rotor was locked and a failed potential replay. We replaced the failed parts, and restored to full function. When our technician was troubleshooting the larger freezer, he found that the malfunction was due to the accumulation of dust in the condenser. He cleaned all of them with nitrogen and restored function.
Signal Mountain
- Responded to a call that the freezer wasn’t working. Found the system had a failed fuse and we replaced it. After replacing it, the fuse continued to fail, so we continued troubleshooting and found a failed rotor. We ordered a new compressor to replace the failing parts, and within 15 minutes of restoring function, the freezer had dropped 20 degrees and held properly.
- Responded to a call that the lobby cooler wasn’t working, and our tech found that the system had a low refrigerant charge due to a leaking seal in the bottom of the compressor. We replaced the compressor and recharged the unit to full function.
- Responded to a call that the three door reach in freezer wasn’t holding temp. We found that it was due to low refrigerant due to significant leaks on the refrigerant line in the condenser. Due to a recent replacement of this same condenser, the part was still covered under warranty, and we were able to replace it at no charge for a new part. Restored to normal function.
- Responded to a call that the freezer wasn’t cooling properly. Found failed high voltage fuse at the rooftop was disconnected but couldn’t find reason for a failed fuse. We replaced the fuse and the freezer began functioning properly.
Leader in Cooler & Freezer Repair Customer Service
One of the days that Hampton Meat Processing in Decatur had emergent issues with their equipment, the Signal Mountain Baskin Robbins had just had thousands of dollars (close to $20,000 or more) of ice cream products delivered.
Trey, our dedicated display chiller and walk in freezer repair technician, worked after hours most of the week bouncing between both locations to try and preserve the products at each location. One night he worked until close to midnight driving to and working at each location – even on a week when he wasn’t on call.
