The house already had 2 existing systems, one for the second floor and one for the main floor and basement. I woke up early when this cold weather first started and at about 6 am the burning smell of an electrical fire spread through the house. I managed to isolate the smell to the second floor unit and turned it off and the smell slowly dissipated. It has been suggested to me that it may have been the blast coils burning off dust, but over the years I have had both heat pumps and units with resistance heat. All will smell when the heat is turned on for the first time but all dissipate quickly and none have ever smelled like this. | March 22, 2024 |
